This project is the Innovation Center planned as a research and development hub for Arisawa Manufacturing. Interoffice led the furniture planning and was responsible for shaping an environment grounded in the overall spatial concept. Conceived not only as a highly specialized facility for research and development, but also as a place that fosters co-creation across departments and disciplines, the center is designed so that diverse activities flow continuously and spontaneous encounters and dialogue arise naturally. Rather than a conventional workspace, it is a place where movement and dwelling overlap — stimulating new connections and ideas throughout.
On the first floor, a workshop space has been arranged to accommodate different modes of activity — thinking on the move, or settling in for in-depth discussion. The space is designed to support a wide range of uses, from quick standing meetings to focused, unhurried conversations.
The second floor houses a series of distinct areas, each offering a different kind of place suited to various activities and purposes. The PUBLIC SPACE — available for presentations, exhibitions, and café use — functions as an open environment that gently connects the inside and outside of the facility. Within the office area, FOCUS WORK supports concentrated individual tasks, COMMUNAL WORK encourages interaction and co-creation, and RELAX WORK offers a setting for mental and physical refreshment. Each area carries a clear character while remaining connected as part of a continuous whole.
The main circulation spine on the second floor, the STREET is conceived not merely as a corridor but as a connective axis where moving through and spending time overlap. Through the use of level changes and built-in furniture, it establishes a relaxed relationship with the surrounding workspaces. The natural flow of people and activity creates a sense of unity across the entire floor.
On the third floor, a variety of focus booths have been provided to accommodate individual work, small-group communication, and moments of refreshment. The ability to choose one’s own place according to task or mood deepens thinking and sparks new ideas.
Across all floors, the plan allows occupants to select where and how they work based on the activity at hand, realizing an environment that supports the full diversity of research and development processes.
