Start Today Co., Ltd./ ZOZO BASE

This reference is about the staff break room located within the logistics center of Start Today Co., Ltd., the operator of the fashion shopping site “ZOZOTOWN.” The break room is designed to provide a completely contrasting environment for employees who engage in standing work in a massive warehouse.

The wooden-themed space is softly divided by white original curtains sewn together with a continuous stroke ribbon depicting the ZOZO logo. Different chairs are arranged throughout the room. In this design, the curtains and furniture, which serve as an intermediate presence between fashion and architecture, gently envelop people within the vast space.

With 350 different types of furniture, staff members have the freedom to choose from various perspectives, textures, and behaviors. The selection of chairs by individuals and their recommendations to accompanying colleagues reveal their personal preferences, level of fatigue, and social relationships. Through the act of sitting, this design gives birth to a public space that stimulates imagination and consideration towards others.
